Garbage Disposal Do's & Don'ts


  • Always run “cold” water while running disposal.  

  • Continue to run cold water after disposal has been shut off for 30 seconds.

  • Once a month put about 2 tablespoons full of baking soda this will help keep bad odors away.




  • Do not overload disposal.  Run with small amounts of garbage at a time.

Things that should not go down the disposal:

  • Stringy veggies such as; celery, onion peels, lettuce or potato peels.

  • Shells of any kind or bones.

  • Do not put down any kind of grease.
